There are already new rumours on Apple about what will happen in Fall ‘09. It was said by TechCrunch that iPod Touches with a choice of 7 and 9 inch screens will launch in autumn this year. “Prototypes have been seen and handled by one of our sources” of TechCrunch. Michael Arrington (founder of TechCrunch) also mention that the iPod Touch are in process of testing.
This new iPod Touch HD is seen as a competitive product of Netbooks. These new iPod Touches is to be sold at a price of 500 to 600 USD (source from newspaper) and was predicted that it can beat the Netbook market.
Apple already HAS a netbook alternative called Macbook Air! they’re basically exactly the same, small 12″ screen, no Disc drive, solid state hard drive etc.

Well, Apple is probably making an “advance-in-technology” netbook which is more portable and more aesthetically pleasing..
